Mr. Colquitt is a dedicated mentor, Gates Millennium Scholar, a Buick Achievers National Scholar, a KFC Colonel Scholar and a University of Michigan LEAD Scholar, honors netting him more than $1 million for school. Despite all of his remarkable accomplishments, one's he would never share himself, he is a truly humble person who is committed to helping others. I've had the opportunity to interact with Donovan regarding his STEM/STEAM outreach initiatives and provide this recommendation not his request, but to call attention to his efforts to make this world a better place --one inquiring mind at a time. He is definitely someone who you will want to get to know and can trust to benefit any project that he puts his heart and soul into.

The real motivation from the Scholar's Key is in Donovan's anecdotes. I remember reading the list of all the scholarships he'd gotten coming into college and being completely taken aback. I discovered the book as a overly ambitious college freshman, so when I saw the list, I immediately began Googling the names of the awards he'd gotten. I wasn't qualified for all of them, but during the search, I developed the scholarship inventory that my friends and I used for the rest of the year -- one that actually helped me earn enough money to cover my entire sophomore year (and then some!).  I couldn't believe it. The thing about these sort of endeavors is that you need to be in the right mindset to make it happen. The Scholars Key made me step back and really consider all the opportunities that were available to me. Once I saw that it could be done, I took off running with it. Wildly enough, I don't think I even finished the book. But I surely carried it around for the rest of the school year and the following summer, probably to remind myself to keep searching for the money. It worked.
